Using Planning Analytics Administration to modify database configuration parameters

By SAMI EL CHEIKH posted Thu December 14, 2023 02:41 PM

At IBM we pride ourselves on balancing robust governance and security for our offerings, including IBM Planning Analytics, with intuitive customer experiences. We are constantly reviewing our products and policies for further improvement.

Modifying the tm1s.cfg file in IBM Planning Analytics can hinder our ability to maintain environments in the cloud due to the custom nature of potential changes to the file. This makes it difficult to implement any environment update and provides our cloud customers limited guidance on what is supported.

To avoid issues with customer environments, modifying the tm1s.cfg file parameters will only be available within the Planning Analytics Administration (PAA) web interface as of April 30, 2024

Any parameter modification made to the tm1s.cfg file before this date will be respected whether available in PAA or not.  The file itself will be locked after this date at which point customers will no longer be able to modify any tm1s.cfg settings outside of PAA.

Hello Sami,

is your statement
"To avoid issues with customer environments, modifying the tm1s.cfg file parameters will only be available within the Planning Analytics Administration (PAA) web interface as of April 30, 2024."

Hello Sami,

I would like to but IBM have been silent. 1 case with 79 days, the other case with 62 days. Can you possibly have a look internally ? I provided the 2 case numbers. Thanks in advance !

Hello Wim,  please continue working through the support team around resolution for these tickets. We apologize for the delay. Support will work closely with our development teams to address your concerns. This initiative around the tm1s.cfg file should not affect outstanding PAA defect issues.

Hello Emil,
The tm1s-log.properties will still be picked up from the same place

Hello Sami,

For the moment I have 2 open support tickets around tm1s.cfg parameters:

  • TS014542581: IBM cloud, updating a configuration parameter value ([PH57983])
  • TS014694190: Updating MinFileSize via REST succeeds but PAA page fails to refresh (PH58286)

Would there be an update please as they are related to the topic at hand. Basically, PAA and the REST API cannot update (1 or more) properties.

The tickets are open for 1.5 to 2+ months.

Thanks,

Wim

Hi Sami.

Just to be sure: Will the tm1s-log.properties file still be picked up from the current location (same folder as the current tm1s.cfg file)?
