IBM Maximo Spatial Asset Management, Version 7.6

Synchronizing data between ArcGIS and IBM Maximo Asset Management

Activate the ArcGISDataSync cron task to create asset, location, and service address records automatically, based on features from your geographic information system (GIS).

Before you begin

Use the Map Manager application to configure GIS objects for spatial-enabled applications for each ArcGIS feature service layer you want to process with the cron task.

Map attributes for each layer that the cron task will process with the JSON Mapping application. You then reference the attributes for each service layer inside the Service Layers section of the Map Manager application.

Update the Event Filter Class of the ArcGIS synchronization Publish Channels records that are related to the Maximo object you want to synchronize., for example, ARCGISASSET, ARCGISLOCATION and ARCGISSRVAD. The value of this attribute must be defined as com.ibm.tivoli.maximo.fdmbo.arcgis.ArcGISEventFilter.

Configure JMS queues before the cron task is activated.

The cron task cannot process records if Admin Mode is turned on in the Database Configuration application.

About this task

Define and activate the cron task for GIS objects in the IBM® Maximo® Asset Management Cron Task Setup application. You must map attributes in the IBM Maximo Asset Management JSON Mapping application to define the fields to populate when you run the cron task.

The cron task creates asset, location, and service address records in IBM Maximo Spatial Asset Management for features that you specify in your GIS layer. IBM Maximo Spatial Asset Management provides the AssetSync, LocationSync and ServiceAddressSync cron tasks. Update the GISOBJECTNAME, PROCESSEDFLAG and URL parameters for these cron tasks before you enable them.

Procedure

  1. In the Cron Task Setup application, on the List tab, select the ArcGISDataSync cron task.
  2. In the Cron Task Instances table window, select an instance of the cron task or create a new cron task.
  3. In the Cron Task Parameters table window, in the Value field, enter parameter values.
  4. In the Cron Task Instances table window, activate the instance by selecting the Active check box. Create more instances of the cron task. Each instance can use different settings and also process different GIS objects or different subsets for a GIS Object.
  5. Save the cron task.
  6. Under More Actions menu, click Reload Request and check the cron task instance that changed.

Results

The cron task instance is active. You can create IBM Maximo Asset Management records for features that you specify for GIS layers.
