Preparing Hadoop

Before you install InfoSphere® Information Server, you must have an existing Hadoop cluster or you must install a new cluster.

Before you begin

InfoSphere Information Server running on Hadoop is supported only on Linux platforms.

Users of Hortonworks, Version 2.2, and BigInsights®, Version 4.0 might be subject to an Apache Ambari bug. See Topologies for InfoSphere Information Server on Hadoop for the workaround.

Install a new supported version of Hadoop, or choose to use an existing supported version. To find supported versions of Hadoop, refer to the system requirements for your installation of InfoSphere Information Server
Verify that you can bring up the cluster and run one of the example jobs that are provided with the Hadoop distribution.
