When it comes to the cloud and our aim is to help software vendors, which now come in from many business partner types, INTO IBM Bluemix (http://ibm.biz/BluemixSBSS). In order to do so then the partner needs to be integrated into the IBM Cloud Marketplace (http://ibm.biz/SBSlideShareMP). The IBM Cloud Marketplace is the portal to the cloud for our Enterprise Clients and where they can find IBM Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings and IBM Business Partner SaaS offerings. In addition those services could run on IBM Softlayer (http://ibm.biz/SBSlideShareSL)
Being integrated into IBM Bluemix can provide an additional route to revenue which can be developed by partners by exposing any APIs of their service to other developers i.e. they effectively become one of Bluemix services in the Bluemix Catalogue, which is a subset of the IBM Cloud Marketplace.

The metered usage API call can be called in two different modes: pre-configured and custom.
The pre-configured mode means that the prices for the items charged have been configured in the applicatation edition. For example, you configured your edition and entered a metered usage item with unit "Gigabyte" as well as another item with unit "Hour" and configured a price for each of these.
The custom mode is enabled if you check the "Allow custom usage" checkbox on your edition. This will let you bill user for arbitrary usage. You will have to pass the price and a description (but *NOT* the unit) for the usage
AppDirect currently supports 40+ units of metered usage (for the pre-configured usage). The pre-configured units are as follows:
