IBM Z Anomaly Analytics

Proactively identify operational issues and avoid costly incidents by detecting anomalies in both log and metric data

IBM Z® Anomaly Analytics is software that provides intelligent anomaly detection to identify operational issues in your enterprise environment proactively.

IBM Z Anomaly Analytics uses historical IBM Z log and metric data to build a model of normal operational behavior. Real-time data is then scored against the model to detect and alert IT operations of anomalous behavior.

Your essential services and applications must always be available in today's digital environment. For enterprises with hybrid applications, including IBM Z, detecting and determining the root cause of hybrid application issues has become more complex with rising costs, skill shortage and changing user patterns.

What's new

Summary of changes and features for Z Anomaly Analytics

Benefits Model-building

Build a model of regular operation for your environment across multiple IBM Z® subsystems including, Db2®, CICS®, MQ®, IMS®, z/OS® and IBM Z log data.

Real-time data analysis

Analyze real-time operational data in comparison with the model of normal operations to detect anomalous behavior and filter non-critical data to advance, rewind and zoom into specific time intervals.

Incident notifications

To proactively identify incidents that might lead to business disruption, IT operations receive notifications about anomalous behavior.

Visualization

Get anomalous details with topological context to quickly isolate the anomalous activity and interpret its impact.

Correlation

When integrated with IBM Cloud Pak® for Watson AIOps, the correlation of anomaly events and topology with enterprise events and data helps understand the impacts of hybrid applications and enables quick resolution of incidents.

Features
Metric-based machine learning system

Detect anomalies in the metric data from z/OS System Management Facilities (SMF) record types and in the log data from IBM IMS log record types.

Metric-based machine learning overview
Integrated log anomaly detection

When logs deviate from their regular message frequency, occurrence or sequence patterns, they exhibit anomalies. The included problem insights server visualizes message-based anomalies alongside metric-based ones. Users can quickly examine the details of a triggered anomaly to determine its potential impacts.

Topology service and hybrid correlation

Discovered topology service helps users quickly visualize and correlate anomalous activity across their z/OS subsystems and applications. When consuming IBM Z events and topology for Watson AIOps, IBM Cloud Pak correlates them with events from the rest of the enterprise. This enables users to quickly determine the impact of incidents and the root cause of operational issues across their hybrid applications.
